Dr. Shilpi Banerjee

Dr. Shilpi Banerjee is Deputy General Counsel at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, leading a team of attorneys supporting the Abigail Wexner Research Institute that handles licensing, transactional matters and litigation related to NCH intellectual property (IP), and the research enterprise. Shilpi has previously served as Chief IP Counsel at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Counsel and Chair of the Research and Education Practice Group at the Cleveland Clinic. In addition to her research and IP roles, Shilpi has served on various Institutional Review Board, Conflict of Interest and Research Compliance Committees. Shilpi spent several years in private practice, first at Ropes and Gray LLP in Palo Alto and New York and then at Sidley Austin LLP in New York. Her practice mainly focused on prosecution of biotechnology and pharmaceutical patents, and biopharma patent litigation. Shilpi received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the Tufts University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Her scientific experience includes postdoctoral fellowships at the California Institute of Technology and Case Western Reserve University.
